So, why would M101 be on an advanced observing list, it's a Messier Object!
That's true, but, did you know that M101 is also home to over a dozen other NCG objects? M101 is a large defused object, within it are HII regions, nebula, and other possibly companion galaxies etc. The list provided offers 13 challenges within M101. Some are dimmer than 15th mag so don't expect to see all of them in anything but the largest scopes. Also, provided is a reference photo marking the location of 19 objects.
