Peter Gruber and I went to Savage and imaged from around 9:30 until 2:00, when
the clouds arrived. This was the first night out with the Project using
battery power, away from Crockett. The LX200 behaved well and we had a lot of
fun.
The color images below are by Peter, who added the color during processing. I
don't have a color filter wheel to take true color images, but these are quite
attractive.

M16, the Eagle nebula in Sagittarius. 60 second exposure. We would have liked
to go longer, but the bright stars were saturating the chip. Click on the
image at left for the full size 146kb .jpg file, which shows more luscious
detail in the "Pillars of Creation" at the center, made famous by the beautiful
Hubble image.
