The observatory at McLean High School

The business end of the 13 inch Newtonian. The
Meade 32mm (2 inch barrel)
eyepiece has also been exposed to the elements, but there is a loose
fitting cover inside the tube itself. Barely visible are rings for a
finder scope (50mm?), and the two holes below the focuser may be for a
Telrad.

The mirror cell. There are three adjustment
screws with locking bolts. The mirror sits in a cradle consisting of a
metal plate and a flange. This may be a 9-point floation cell, but there
is something obviously wrong with it, since one of the triangles has
slipped (not visible). The mirror needs to be cleaned, at a minimum.

A view of the clock drive mechanism, with the
cover removed. The eight bolts and springs around the axle push on the
black pressure plate as part of the clutch mechanism. This appears to be
in good condition.
