The Planets

Jupiter

Jupiter it easy to find. It's bright (approximately magnitude -2) and shows surface detail. This, combined with its ever-changing display of moons, makes it a popular target. Jupiter reaches opposition on April 4, 2005 and will be well positioned for observing in the constellation Virgo during the winter of 2004 and spring of 2005. Enjoy!

The software programs, Meridian v4.8 and SkyChart III , can be used to predict the location of the Red Spot and the positions of the four Galilean moons.
