Novac's website was started in 1996 by Jeff Stetekluh as an all text collection of pages. Initial contributors, besides Jeff, were Pete Johnson, Bill Burton, John Stewart-Taylor and Ralph Marple. The first version of the site was hosted on George Mason University's servers and had a GMU url. It used 150 pages in early 2000. Click on the pages to see a larger image.

1996 to 2000

2000 to 2002

In 2000, the site was refurbished and text was put into several tables. A search engine, current Moon, rotating x-ray sun images, and graphics were added. The domain name novac.com was purchased.

2002 to Present

In 2002 a standard navigation side bar and and real-time astronomy feeds were added. The Novac logo in the top left corner is changed from the usual galaxy logo to reflect the current big observing event in the hobby. There were 553 pages as of July 2003. In June 2003, Novac.com was awarded the Astronomical League's first-ever Webmaster of the Year Award.
