Hello NOVAC!

Thank you for turning out in force in January for our first meeting of the year. Our speaker for February, Dr. Michelle Thaller will be speaking and her topic is A Solar System of Surprises. I’ve not heard Dr. Thaller speak in person, but have occasionally listened to her podcast, Orbital Path, and found her to be enjoyable and interesting.

Here is a link to the general meeting page with the topic description as well Dr. Thaller’s bio.

The board will meet in Room #163 of Research Hall at 4:00pm. Currently the board agenda includes:

  • A report of budget formulation and guidelines for 2018
  • Update on activities so the club can better communicate with members and the general public
  • A report on International Dark Sky Association activities
  • Responding to an offer for NOVAC to again supply judges for the Fairfax County Regional Science and Engineering Fair.

Our pre-meeting dinner at Red Hot and Blue, 4150 Chain Bridge Rd, Fairfax, will take place at our regular time of 5:30 PM.

NOVAC will hold its next monthly general membership meeting Sunday February 11, at 7:00 PM in Room #163 in Research Hall on the campus of George Mason University. Our speaker will be Dr. Michelle Thaller, Assistant Director of Science for Communication at NASA Goddard. The general meeting is open to the club membership and the general public. No RSVP is necessary, so please come if you can.
