Astro-related Online Courses

One of our members sent me this note so I thought I would post it in the members sections of our site so others that were interested could take advantage if they are interested. Chris Lee

I don’t know if club members are aware of the astro-related

courses on Coursera. I just took a very accessible and addicting one via

University of Edinburgh called AstroTech: The Science and Technology

behind Astronomical Discovery. https://www.coursera.org/course/astrotech

(I took it with my readers in context of scifi

http://jessicastover.com/scrolls/ )

That courseware modules are always available now that the course has

ended, and there are more upcoming, for example:

The Diversity of Exoplanets and From the Big Bang to Dark Energy

https://www.coursera.org/course/bigbang

Edx.edu has astro-related courses as well from MIT, etc.. Thought this

might be a useful resource for the club. I know it’s expanded my knowledge

and now I get more out of astronomy, analysis and Nasa mission articles,

and so on.

I am preparing to host residents from my complex to a Lunar Eclipse Watching Event. Although we will try to see it from our residence, I want to know if it will be shown on any television or computer channel. It would be a back up in case of cloudy weather. Please provide any information you can. Also, any members are invited to join us at the BLVD Loudoun Station.
