NOVAC’s general meeting will be held on the campus of George Mason University on Sunday, January 11. We will meet in Research Hall Room 163 at 7:00 p.m.
If you’ve recently done some public outreach work, or if you’ve had a particularly good observing session lately, please consider taking a few minutes during the meeting to tell other members about it. Or perhaps you’ve gotten a gadget you’d like to talk about briefly? This sort of participatory discussion is a lot more engaging than a dry recitation of upcoming events, so we’d like to encourage it where we can in the business section of our meetings.
Paul Brewer will be providing us with an in depth Astronomical League update, while our guest speaker this month will be NOVAC’s own Ed Witowski, who will give a talk on star clusters.
In addition, I’d like to extend an invitation to our usual pre-meeting dinner this month. As special guests, John Goss, President of the Astronomical League, and his wife, Genevieve, will be joining us. We’ll meet at Brion’s Grille (in University Mall across from GMU at 10621 Braddock Rd) on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. The pre-meeting dinner is an excellent way to meet other club members, welcome newcomers, and renew old friendships.
Directions and a few more regular details can be found on the General Meetings webpage.
