In-Person Events Cancelled Through May 10, 2020

Today the CDC updated their guidance to recommend that for the next 8 weeks, organizers (whether groups or individuals) cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States.

To comply with this recommendation, NOVAC will take the following actions to modify our plans through May 10, 2020:

  1. We will not hold in-person monthly meetings for April or May. We have been testing solutions that would allow us to still gather online and see & hear our speaker’s presentations. Stay tuned for more on this as we get closer to our next meeting. Recall, our next meeting is April 19th, to accommodate Easter.
  2. Public Nights at Crockett and Great Meadow will be cancelled through May 10
  3. Astronomy Day will be postponed to a later date that is agreeable to both Crockett and NOVAC.

Best not to invite trouble, and as we approach May 10 we will see what guidance at that time recommends.

We’re not snowed in and individual observing is still a great option. If you’d rather stay inside, we have videos of presentations at past AHSP, Astronomy Day and Star Gaze events on the NOVAC YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/NOVACAstronomy/videos).

Great opportunity to practice conducting a remote / virtual meeting. Using Zoom, Slack, Skype, hangouts, etc.
