A total eclipse of the sun will runs smack through the middle of the USA on August 21, 2017. Plan a car trip, bus ride, or plane trip to the narrow strip of Earth stretching from Salem, OR through to Nashville, TN in which the sun will *completely disappear* for two minutes. (Not many large cities are in the path of the totality, so make your reservations early if you want to observe it from the comfort of civilization.)

This eclipse should be visible for most of western North America, eastern Asia, Australia, and the Pacific Ocean
A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes completely through the Earth’s dark shadow, or umbra. During this type of eclipse, the Moon will gradually get darker and then take on a rusty or blood red color. - Participation will be limited to 100 people (including staff and volunteers).
- Social distancing is required and face masks are strongly encouraged.
