On Sunday, December 10, at the General Meeting, the club elected officers for 2018. I am honored to be serving as President for the coming year. Please join me in congratulating the others elected last night:
Vice President: Alan Goldberg
Secretary: John McDonnell
Treasurer: Paul Derby
Trustees (2 yr term): Zack Panitzke, John Higbee
There are three other Trustees whose terms continue into 2018: Lyle Mars, Pete Johnson and George Doschek.
I want to thank both Kambridge Giles and Arlen Raasch for all the time and effort they volunteered last year in their roles as President and Vice President. Both are staying with the club, though scaling back their direct involvement with operations.
Finally, thank you all for being NOVAC members! Watch this space for emails announcing our first meeting of 2018 and another with information about our upcoming Volunteer Recognition Event on January
20 at the planetarium in Arlington. It’s not too early to think about Astronomy Day, AHSP and Star Gaze either – not only are these great events for us, they are also great opportunities to volunteer to help
the public begin to get a peek at why we find this hobby so fascinating and satisfying.
I’m looking forward to this coming year.
